The General Assembly Churches

The General Assembly Churches trace its roots back to the Early Church that was established by Jesus Christ with his twelve apostles. This church began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-5) and flourished for forty years. As that church began to grow, men were ordained as ministers of the Lord and they operated in a five-fold ministerial order with apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors and evangelists. This church operated with Jesus as its head.

Jesus and Paul warned the church that grievous wolves would creep in dividing the flock and the church would fall away and lose its power. After the deaths of the leading apostles, the church fell away into a wilderness of confusion. However, the Lord still had a remnant of people.

No one has ever been able to duplicate the order and divine love of the Early Church. There have been multiple movements, but no one has been able to duplicate the church that Jesus put together with the twelve apostles. Joel said it won’t be until many generations (Joel 2:2). We believe we are living in that generation in which the Lord is going to put His church together and bring it back into perfect order. That is what we are striving for today. Our vision is to restore the church.
